Jerusalem Wall Collapse Sparks Jewish-Muslim Row: MUSLIMS CONTINUE ATTEMPT TO ERASE JEWISH HISTORY

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - The collapse of part of Jerusalem's Western Wall during a rare snowstorm sparked a row between Jewish and Muslim clerics Sunday as one rabbi called it a miracle no worshippers were hurt.

The collapse late Saturday of an 800-year-old embankment next to where Jewish women pray at the site commonly known as the "wailing wall" sent people fleeing from tumbling rocks.

The Muslim authority for the area, the Waqf, blamed Israeli building work nearby for the problem; but an Israeli architect said construction by Arabs was making the wall unstable.

"It's a miracle nobody was hurt," said rabbi Shmuel Rabinovich, blaming time and the weather for the collapse.

Engineers were also looking at whether a small earthquake last week might have played a part in the incident. Israeli police kept people away from the site Sunday.

The head of the Waqf, whose authority includes the Al-Aqsa mosque above the wall, said it had been complaining about Israeli renovations of the Western Wall plaza for some time.

"We've been saying it could cause problems," said Adnan al-Husseini.

Israeli archaeologist Eilat Mazar said it was the fifth time in two years that parts of the walls had begun to crumble, buckle or crack as a result of what she called unsupervised construction by the Waqf -- a charge the Muslim clerics deny.

"What concerns me most is the Temple Mount itself is in danger of collapsing...The earthquake has certainly done more damage but nobody goes to check," she told Reuters.

Jewish women worship separately from men and Rabinovich said partitions would be set up in the men's section to allow women to pray there until their area was made safe after the collapse.

New Yorker Frady Schwartz, praying at the wall Sunday, was unfazed; she said with a shrug: "It's in God's hands."

"There have been many false messiahs in history, but never has there been a one that the whole world accepted."

I think that most Jews would tent disagree with that statement. :)

Adam, hello, what are you talking about? Shabtai Zvi? Bar Kochba? Etc...? There has never been anyone in history that the whole world accepted as moshiach.

"however, you are correct ... after that Third Temple is up, someone, claiming to be Israel's "messiah" will sit in the temple and declare themselves to be "god" ... I don't know when it will happen, but it will happen ..."

OK, I'll be honest, I don't believe any of this stuff. I think it's a bunch of fairy tales, and aspects of it's prophecies have happened in other times in history.

Have you considered THIS though, just another possible sci-fi scenario I think is as plausible or not as anoy other...

THe third templs IS built, it is the al-Aqsa mosque. It is the temple of the false messiah who has 1 billion followers.... Muhammad, a tool of Satan.

Or how about, Salah Din was the Antichrist, who took over the temple grounds and built the third temple in the name of the Satanic Messiah, Muhammad. You know, the Arabs are talking about having an "Arab Security Council" whose resolutions are binding on it's members... in otherwords, an islamic empire a la EU, the renewal of the Islamic Caliphate. You could easily have a jihadi army of 200 million out of 1 billion muslimes!

Sounds like a good plotline, anyway, but just as plausible as any of this speculation about fairy tales.

Observant Jews would never "worship" such a person, nor accept such a person as anything but a human being. The Jewish understanding of messiah is that he is a man who leads us into the messianic age. It is considered idol worship to worship anything but G-d, the Creator of the Universe, who has no physical form.

again, I say you are welcome to your views ... I don't believe it ... I think the Scripture clearly shows that a temple will be built ... now, admittedly, I don't expect everybody or even the majority to believe it ... and I don't know when it will be built ...

but the Scripture said Israel would become a nation again and said Jerusalem would be the problem the world couldn't solve ...

and 2500 years or so after those were written, Israel is a nation again and Jerusalem is a burdensome stone for all the nations of the world ... such a burden that nuclear war is indeed possible because of the issue and was a real possibility in 1973 ...

that is why I believe, against all odds, a Third Temple will go up (Rev. 11) ... an Israeli nation was against all odds and Satan took quite a shot at squashing it before it happened through Hitler (I think the first Zionist congress by Theodore Herzl was 1897 or so) ... but God birthed Israel against all odds ...

we'll have to watch the future unfold, and for the time being, agree to disagree ...

of course ... the Jews never accepted God in human form ... for that reason, the Pharisees wanted to stone Jesus and through Him headlong off a cliff ...

that's why the false messiah will be a political messiah ... a man who brings "peace" ... think how the world will rejoice when "peace" comes to the Middle East ...

Real peace won't come until Christ sets up His Kingdom ...

what you say may be true ... but what will happen after it is rebuilt is my concern ... like I say, we'll have to wait for the future to come ...

This has been a very interesting thread and very educational. Great food for thought, each and every comment so far! I'm not sure how it all fits together, but I know that He does, and that it will come to pass at the right time. We must all continue to pray and be ready.

SHALOM!

This is a Hebrew/Jewish Law found in Leviticus and Deuteronomy due to the fact that Women have a monthly issue of Blood, give Birth and are considered Unclean; until ritualistic cleansing takes place: specific waiting period passes, Mikvah/Bathing and also certain Sacrifices were required in the case of Child Birth had been completed.

Only then could the Woman in question be pronounced clean/pure by the Laws that govern Halakhah and also by the the presiding Temple Priests.

Men and Women alike may Not defile the Holy Temple.

During the time of The Temple in Jerusalem...Men and Women Worshippers Prayed and Worshipped separately.

Fairy Tales??Many of these prophecies that you think are sci-fi are happening now in our lifetime....I would just have a watchful eye to see the validity of current events and prophecy before you discount them as Fairy Tale..

A physical form Messiah can be Killed and I am sure with the maniacs that live in the Muslim world they would definetly attempt to kill this man..So then what?

The End of Days will be a divine intervention if you continue to read scripture and follow current events I think you will see the writing is on the wall clear as day..

Stalin/Communism was far closer to world government than Hitler.

That ideology still permeates the world today. Some call it socialist, others progressive, and then there are liberals.

These things need be. I agree.

Daniel does give to the king of Bablyon a description of events being replayed again and again. What should give Christians comfort is that Daniel, and the three in the firey furnace were protected even in the midst of Judah being sent to Babylon.

We are not told any details of a third temple being built before Christ returns.

We are told there would be "diverse" earthquakes.

Could well be that California gets a good shaking, San Francisco's fake "marriages" sure were a finger in the eye of our Heavenly Father. The "supremes" in Massachusetts last week made themselves "gods".

Luke17:32 Remember Lot's wife.
