JERUSALEM (Reuters) - The collapse of part of Jerusalem's Western Wall during a rare snowstorm sparked a row between Jewish and Muslim clerics Sunday as one rabbi called it a miracle no worshippers were hurt.

The collapse late Saturday of an 800-year-old embankment next to where Jewish women pray at the site commonly known as the "wailing wall" sent people fleeing from tumbling rocks.

The Muslim authority for the area, the Waqf, blamed Israeli building work nearby for the problem; but an Israeli architect said construction by Arabs was making the wall unstable.

"It's a miracle nobody was hurt," said rabbi Shmuel Rabinovich, blaming time and the weather for the collapse.

Engineers were also looking at whether a small earthquake last week might have played a part in the incident. Israeli police kept people away from the site Sunday.

The head of the Waqf, whose authority includes the Al-Aqsa mosque above the wall, said it had been complaining about Israeli renovations of the Western Wall plaza for some time.

"We've been saying it could cause problems," said Adnan al-Husseini.

Israeli archaeologist Eilat Mazar said it was the fifth time in two years that parts of the walls had begun to crumble, buckle or crack as a result of what she called unsupervised construction by the Waqf -- a charge the Muslim clerics deny.

"What concerns me most is the Temple Mount itself is in danger of collapsing...The earthquake has certainly done more damage but nobody goes to check," she told Reuters.

Jewish women worship separately from men and Rabinovich said partitions would be set up in the men's section to allow women to pray there until their area was made safe after the collapse.

New Yorker Frady Schwartz, praying at the wall Sunday, was unfazed; she said with a shrug: "It's in God's hands."

The Orthodox Jews in Jerusalem have that covered...they are now looking at building it just close to the original site. And scripture never actually states its going to be on the very exact spot...just that it's it going to be rebuilt!

Muslims are incensed by this notion of rebuilding the temple on one of Islam's holiest sites. The current fight for Jerusalem as capital of a new Palestinian state as opposed to being the capital of Israel, the Temple rebuilding notwithstanding, is all over the evening news. Just as the prophet Zechariah said that it would be 2500 years ago, Jerusalem is a cup that causes reeling to all peoples and is a heavy stone for all peoples who lift it (Zechariah 12:2-3). The Mid-East Dispatch stated that the Faithful will have to wait until the heifer is at least three years old ( 2000 A.D.) before it can be used in a ritual sacrifice.

Jesus, in speaking of His return said in Matthew 24:33-34 that "when you see all these things, recognize that He is near, right at the door...truly I say to you this generation will not pass away until all these things take place." Biblical prophecy is fulfilling itself right before our eyes

you are right, they are ready. but the new(3rd)temple will be built on the exact same place as the last. (i"ll bet when that hillside caves in there will be plenty of room for the new temple.) at least the inner court, i believe the bible says the outer court will be "left to the gentiles".

The prophets like Paul says in ICorinthians 10:11

Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: (examples) and they are written for our admonition, (warning) upon whom the ends of the world are come.

So isn't Paul telling us those things the prophets wrote down is the script of what would occur again.

I have no idea WHEN, just the season and in Acts 2 presents a picture of a benchmark, the Comforter/Holy Spirit given. Peter directs us to Joel in Acts 2:14.

Christ said it would be the same as in the days of Noah, so got to go and find out what brought about the flood and that same thing would be occurring again.

I look at it like this Our Heavenly Father is in control and it is his hour glass that holds the sands of time and it will occur when He deems, and my responsibility is to study, be a watchman, and plant seeds.

The countdown started when the Jews took Jerusalem (Bones return to Israel). Many thought it would start when the Jews got their nation back, but with further study, it was Jerusalem. 1967.

"This generation shall not pass without seeing the coming of the Lord."
From all the lifespans listed in the Bible, a generational average is about 51. That would make the return around 2018, but then that would have to be recounted a little using the old Jewish calender, not ours. It's some where around there.
With PC (anti-God) being the new world theology, I can understand why the world wouldn't have much time.

I think it's the cracking of Babylon California, the home of every unclean bird of the earth. Sodom and Gomorrah.
