Asked why Mr. Bush's National Guard service during the Vietnam era as well as the senator's own history as a decorated Vietnam veteran who became a war protester were an issue, Mr. Kerry said, "It seems to be the war that won't ever go away," and called it "the pivotal event of our generation." I think World War II was the "pivotal event" of Bob Dole and George Bush's generation, but they didn't make their wartime heroics the centerpiece of their campaign. If they had, they would have been accused of living in the past. Yet since the media is run by left-wing baby boomers, they love all this self-righteous navel-gazing.
Yet they adore Clinton. He's even running the campaigns.
