There was another piece posted here about the Church in Michigan embracing its own "Catholic" governor, Jennifer Granholm. If this were my archdiocese, I would cut all contributions til the bishop stopped cozying up to these enablers of mass murder.

From the headline I thought the church was against a certain composer's music (much as Wagner's music is ill-regarded in some places because of his anti-semitism).

I am in this archdiocese and I only give to the fund at my parish to support the structure. I figure since I go there and it's a sacred space, I owe them that. Otherwise, for their social welfare stuff etc. I pass. I send my money elsewhere like to Kansans for Life.

Sounds about as Catholic as Michigan's Canadian-in Chief Granholm.

"She met with several bishops this week on issues such as housing, criminal justice and poverty."
As long as the disregard and wholesale slaughter of children is allowed and condoned, the other problems cannot be solved. If life is not respected from the very beginning, how can one respect life at all.

"If the pro-abortion-choice governor is honored as planned by the Catholic Church, the Catholic Church in Kansas will no longer be able to claim to be pro-life," Gietzen said. "We are about to witness a church scandal of far greater proportion." 2270 Human life must be respected and protected absolutely from the moment of conception. From the first moment of his existence, a human being must be recognized as having the rights of a person -- among which is the inviolable right of every innocent being to life.

There is no reason to respect people or organizations who will not enforce the right not to be killed.
Let's face it, if the majority may decide to kill unwanted human beings - to ration or discriminate between the inalienable rights of individuals - there is no justification for government to continue forcing the tax support of housing, food, or any other social welfare programs.
It's only with the human right to life and liberty that justifies the accumulation of our individual rights and might to intervene in the lives of other human beings, especially by use of implied and real force.
