Schools making sissies out of our kids
World Net Daily ^ | 2/13/04 | Dr. Laura Schlessinger

When I was a little girl about 5 or 6 years old, my mother instructed me in the proper response to anyone hitting me. She said, "Never, never hit anyone first; but, if they hit you first, hit them back immediately and twice as hard!" Today, at 57, I have had a stint on talk radio preachin', teachin', and naggin' for a span of about 30 years – and that is precisely the advice I have been giving children and suggesting to their parents that they do the same. I have even recommended martial arts for the timid as well as the edgy children because of the development of self-assurance and serious self-discipline.

Along comes the public-school system and undermines all of that. John Longenecker of Lakewood, Calif., sent me this letter: "You wanted reports on school malfeasances; here's one. Picked up my kids in Lakewood this afternoon, and my beautiful, loving children reported to me a new Bellflower School District policy that specified, among other things, that both children caught fighting will be disciplined and that the discipline could be a citation that could run as high as $800.

"...he would learn what it was like to be a victim himself...It's amazing that people in power don't have any guts whatsoever."

Exactly. Those who make up these ridiculous rules and reg's either have never been victims or they're just too chickensh*t to fight back and would rather remain victims all their lives and to justify their actions, they'll create more and more chickensh*t cowards like themselves.

As an accomplished martial artist, I know of the multitude of benefits that a person receives by consistent, diligent study under a competent instructor.

I think that a million dollar business idea would be a chain of private schools (K-12) that taught basic academics, martial arts, personal finance, mental, emotional, and spiritual power, leadership skills, etc.

The person that provides that school to the marketplace can become very wealthy, IMHO.

It's time to create a movement to support a School Choice Amendment to all 50 state constitutions:

"A child's parents or guardians have the absolute right to select the education for their minor children. Any revenues collected by the state for educational purposes will be directly remitted to the parents of minor children. The state shall impose no requirements or enforce any educational standards."

In other words, give education back exclusively to the parents. If some parents choose to abuse this priviledge, it will still be far, far better than the total mess we have today.

Our church is very small, but we have an overpreponderance of 6-8 year old boys. One Sunday a few weeks ago, one of those boys came running in to brethlessly tell me that my son (Nick) punched one of the other boys (Jake) in the stomach. First, I busted the lad for tattling. Then I ambled over to the boys, Jake (older than my son) was crying a little. I took the boys into a room and asked what happened. It seems Jake had learned a new phrase and kept inviting Nick to "kiss my butt." Nick got sick of it and punched his gut instead.

I looked at Jake and asked him if he had learned his lesson. He did. Jake's dad had a little talk with him about his use of the language. I reminded Nick that he should not punch his friends too often.

At the time of his death (overdose) he was 6'8" and 350 pounds of meaness. A veteran of every penal system in Colorado from juvie on. As a child he used to revel, and I mean get giddy happy at the prospect of a kid standing up to him.

Problems like that get dealt with quietly - as you point out, there's always somebody, bigger, faster, meaner - and smarter.

The "hit back harder" would be ill advised dealing with a monster; there are more effective alternatives.

I am a public school teacher.
The NEA must be destroyed. They are a band of thugs who should be subject to prosecution under the RICO provisions.
