I caught that, too. Great comeback!
I just happened to tape last night's H&C, so I went back to check it out. The leader of Vietnam Vets Against Kerry who appeared on last night's show was Ted Sampley, who served two terms in Viet Nam. Credits running on the screen while he was speaking: Staff Sargent in Army... Served in Viet Nam in the 173rd Airborne... became Green Beret in 1969... Awarded 4 Bronze Stars... Awarded the Army Commendation medal... Awarded the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry.
Of course Sampley and Colmes were completely at odds with one another regarding Kerry's behavior after he returned home from Viet Nam. Colmes was pretty hostile to Sampley right from the start. Sampley stated to Colmes at one point: "John Kerry is a traitor."
Hannity then stepped in for his part of the segment, trying to get Sampley to back down a bit on that statement. Hannity said he agreed with Sampley in that he didn't like Kerry's anti-war activities when he returned from Viet Nam, but that Sampley should "be careful of that rhetoric" in calling Kerry a traitor. Hannity then said "He served his country... he was injured for his country." Sampley replied "So did Benedict Arnold."
