It is now about 6:oo a.m. CST and I have been watching the program with a few breaks from the gitco.

Imus started off denigrating Drudge and then entering a long discussion comparing Kerry's intern problem with the President's "guard problem." He also went on at some length complaining that he didn't want to discuss this and then jumped on the idea that the Republicans were the genesis of Kerry's current problem.

The Fonda photo received some notice and FR was mentioned tangentially as a "conservative website." After denigrating the photo, Imus then went on to point out no mainstream media --ABC, FOX, CNN, CNN, CBS --have mentioned the problem and "perhaps we shouldn't as well."

Up to 6:00 a.m. one could summarize by repeating the Imus assertion this is nothing but the poltics of personal destruction. Incidentally, Dobbs wouldn't ask about it at all. Imus laid the groundwork for a softball interview by saying well he should have a chance to address it if he wanted to.

Don't expect a lot.

As I indicated in the above post, Imus had the whole situation in hand by making this: (1)A Republican smear; (2)And, an unnecessary diversion. Then he interviewed Insana and Brokow. Incidentally, Brokaw was very positive about our 10,000 troops who serve in a difficult and dangerous area without complaint.

Before Kerry came on, Imus once again broke into the reporting of the Drudge Report. When Kerry came on, his voice was positive and energetic. Imus was almost groveling in his appreciation of him. They began with a chit chat about pulmonary specialists and so forth.

Kerry was never really questioned about anything. He gave a long stump speech. Imus defferentially mentioned the Drudge Report with the question being whether this report would cause Imus to withdraw his support from Kerry. By the way, Imus stated he once was in support of Bush. Of course Kerry said no, but he never really had to answer whether the allegations in the Drudge Report were true.

Bottom Line is that Kerry and the RATS will take the position this is a Republican smear so low it does not deserve comment or questions. Apparently, everyone in the mainstream press thus far is following in line.
