I agree with your take on Imus and his treatment of Kerry this morning. Imus IS quirky and does not see the world like most of us. It's what makes him interesting and infuriating at the same time. Imus hosts people he likes and remains relatively loyal to them. He's not sure whether this story is true or not and was not going to accuse someone he likes on national radio of something he is not sure is true. However, he DID bring it up. I agree that Kerry gave a non-denial denial but the important thing is that Imus took it to be a denial. If this story gets legs and Kerry is shown to be dallying with an intern, I think Imus will be FURIOUS and will nail him later on. Imus gave him the rope and Kerry tentatively took it. A good first step.

Imus turned an non-denial denial into a denial.
Kerry will either have to correct Imus' take on it or live with it. Either way, Imus did not help Kerry... he painted him into a corner and blamed the Clintons.

Yes, Imus is quirky. I am surprised he didn't just bluntly come out and ask him, "so you're denying the affair, right?" instead of these softballs.
If Kerry would lie about Botox treatments, don't you think he would lie about an affair? He also wants people to associate him with Clinton and JFK (the real one). I wouldn't be surprised if Kerry's camp leaked this story now because they knew it would come out anyway and didn't want a fall bombshell. He may have been telling the truth when he said he wasn't worried about it. The real story to be had is not this one woman, but if there are others. If it's just this one, it may be containable from their perspective. My gut tells me there's much more than one.
