If there were some half-baked scheme to flood the country with second-class status Southern Italian coolie laborers, I'd be just as offended.
The "guest worker" / "amnesty" proposal is just wrong on so many levels. But very powerful people in this country, on both sides of the aisle, do NOT want the illegal immigration problem solved. To them, ensconced in their gated communities, there IS no problem, because labor just gets cheaper and cheaper, and the saps of the shrinking middle class bear the brunt of the negatives such an influx causes.
In 25 - 50 years, this country will be more like Brazil or South Africa than the USA I grew up in.

Amen! I was just ready to be for Bush again because Kerry is so repulsive. This stuff makes me just want to vote for a third party, whoever it might be. All we are voting for this year is who will bring us 100% socialism sooner.
