Looks like a job for Freepers. Start searching those old news papers in the area in question.

If we can't find an original photo, certainly Photoshop can produce a version.

Democratic water-carrier Douglas Brinkley was being interviewed a few days ago by Don Imus. He tried to portray Kerry's participation in the "Winter Soldier" business as an act of moral heroism. The media will try to turn this into a plus for Kerry.

Someone ought to head over to the George Washington University library and check out their archive of Quicksilver Times.

Most people seem to believe that the recent comments by Terry McAuliffe and John Kerry on President Bush's service in the National Guard are a full-bore attack designed to underscore Kerry's hero status, sow seeds of disrespect against the President and feed "red meat" to the Howard Dean "antiwar/anti-Bush" clique. I choose to take both men at their words in this matter. They are clearly firing "warning shots" at the President's political advisors. The Democrats are desperately afraid that Kerry's anti-American, anti-Vietnam veteran words and deeds, many recorded on film and on audio and video tape, will see the light of day in this campaign. In his misspent, post-Vietnam youth Kerry was remarkably vocal about his opposition to "American Imperialism", and never missed a chance to get in front of a microphone or camera. Of course there are also his Senate votes to weaken our military and intelligence services. The "truth is out there", and it would make great grist for the campaign advertising mill, if the Bush people don't let Kerry and the Democrats intimidate them into ignoring the "downside" of Kerry's not-so heroic or patriotic activities.

From
this very, very long article in the Chicago Tribune, December 4, 2003, Detroit and Philadelphia newspaper archives may be a good place to look.
Also some books:
"The Turning: A history of Vietnam Veterans Against the War," authored by Andrew E. Hunt (1999),
"Home to War: A History of the Vietnam Veterans' Movement," by Gerald Nicosia (2001),
"Covering Dissent: The Media and the Anti-Vietnam War Movement," Melvin Small (1994), might have photos in them. Will check later this evening to see if any are available at local libraries...
