For better or worse, most who had the audicity to disagree have been sent packing.

I don't blame President Bush for all the bad things government does, or has done.
President Bush has done many things I approve of. He has also done some things I disapprove of.
I would expect the same thing can be said of any President of the United States in any generation.

The thing that gets me is that it is getting harder and harder to tell any difference between the two major partys. Not neccesarily the candidates, but the partys.
The only difference I see at the moment is that the Dems would treat terrorism as a crime and wait for it to happen on our shores and the Repubs would go after it on terrorists home ground.
That is the ONLY reason I will vote Repub this election year.

Well, I haven't worn my welcome out yet, it would seem.

But it is getting frustrating seeing the conservative-bashing that is going on. Pretty strange phenomenon for the premiere conservative site on the web.

You originally said: "At some point taxes will have to go up"

Anybody who makes that kind of statement is not a conservative. At no time are taxes the answer; and especially they are not the answer when we are just recovering from a hit like we've had in the last 3 years (in a recession, 9-11, company corruption, war in Iraq).

When you cut taxes, REVENUES INCREASE .. it's econ 101, and a proven fact. If revenues increase THE DEFICIT DECREASES. That's why you DON'T HAVE TO INCREASE TAXES.

And .. don't be getting uppity with me about what you've been doing; you have no idea what I've been doing so your statement is rude and uncalled for.

"If you want to hide something from a liberal, hide it inside a truthful statement."

Mosts liberal don't want to be bothered with the facts. They just want to feeeeeel good.

Problem is that conservatives think for themselves and are independent minded unlike the tribal mentality of the left. This is why we agrue amongest ourselves so much. I guess its just in our nature.

IMHO, some elements of the republican party has drifted to the left. Hopefully those of us concerned about this can tether it down and keep the democrats out of power at the same time.

The only time deficits and interest rates were a problem (that I know of), was when Bush I was President. The fed reserve continued to raise the rates, while the deficit was high. You will notice they have not done that this time.

Interest rates should only go up to stem inflation .. we don't have inflation. The only splat is going to be when the democrats falsehoods hit them in the face on election day.

Sorry that I didn't flesh out my entire viewpoint on the issue for you from the very beginning, but I'm not writing a monograph each time I post. What's interesting is that I actually state an agreement with you and you're still pissed off. I can see that any mention of taxes is some sort of trigger that just results in an emotional response, so I'll avoid continuing damage to your blood pressure by not talking about it further.

The definition of what "a conservative" does or does not believe isn't your call. I doubt any two people on FR would come up with the same set of positions for "a conservative" to have. But if you want, hurl some insults like RINO (I'm not registered as a Republican so that wouldn't fit anyway) my way if it'll make you feel better.

That's the job that is facing us in a nutshell.

Well said.

A lot of battles to be fought in the Senate and House. They are the ones who write the laws and pay the bills. Just think if we could elect real conservatives instead of McCains, Cannons, or Ryans.

Excuse me .. there was no reason to be a smartalec about it. Of course the war ended .. THE WAR ON TERROR HAS NOT ENDED. So .. what is your point ..??

Since I'm not the President and I don't have any control over govt spending .. the only thing I do is complain to my congressman. The rest is up to him and the President. To even ask me if I see an end to the growth .. what is the point of that question ..??

"Yeah, that's the story, even though the Republicans control the House, Senate and the Presidency, its the Democrats fault. Thank you."

You are right. There is no such thing as "Conservatives" anymore in government, it's all been a big sham and we all continue to believe this BS. Going to vote for Kerry?

"remember this: the vast majority of FReepers, while supporting the President's reelection, also disagree with many of his domestic politicies: immigration, spending, education, CFR, the AWB, etc."

I'm certain that you will have a source for that assertion. I'm certain that you aren't "painting with a broadbrush".

Now you're being condescending and patronizing. I never was mad. If anybody's mad it's you. You can think anything you want. And .. if you're not registered as a repub, why would I even think you're a conservative. The only reason people don't register as repub is because they don't agree with the "conservative" message. You can admit it. It doesn't matter to me.

Our conversation is over.

Can't do it, though there is something to be said for gridlock.

So what you are saying is that the Republican congress is just as responsible for 911 as Clintoon since they would have wrote the laws that would have protected us and allocated the $$ to pay for it?

I've got my own version of a "list."

Santa's been checking his list to see who's been naughty and nice. He's checking his list and crossing it twice.
