They have written themselves off.Perhaps you should start addressing individual posters who have written themselves off rather than casting a net of aspersions over the broader "they." I believe in the New Tone.

You just don't know how to deal with a Bush supporter who dislikes your tactics, do you?
You reach down into your normal bag of tricks and find it empty.

You think insults will bring em back? Look they are adults. They can either pout or vote, I DON"T CARE. What I will not do is beg them to do something they wouldn't do in the first place. Bush will win this thing by 51-55% popular vote and 320+ electoral vote and he will do it in spite of the unappeasables.

EV, I think a goodly number of those who are most incensed were never here to begin with. I se way too much of the Perot/Buchanan dogma in many of the postings. Frankly, the gridlock is bestter bunch makes me wonder if they really have thought out what they are saying.
I shall say this, though.Anytime someone has to tell you how principled they are, then they generally are not.

You're talking an awful lot of sense there, pard.

If it is 20%, you and all of us are screwed. I voted for Bush in that poll, my anti-Kerry issues go back to his support of the Sandanistas. To have less than 90% on a conservative website scares the hell out of me. New strategeries other than "shut up you anti-Bush troll" are needed, soon.

As we both said, WE don't fight. We may disagree , but there is too much mutual liking and respect there to fight. Would you concur, Pod?

than 90% on a conservative website scares the hell out of me. Since 2000 there has always been an 80/20 split on FR between GOP conservatives and 3rd party libertarians/populists/paleo-conservatives.

The 20% that have voted in the FR poll. And you think the sample is not representive...why?
Full disclosure: I voted for Bush in that poll, and in the 2000 election in the swing state of Ohio, and plan on doing it again in '04, no matter how much the "shut up don't critize" group screams and turns people off.

You are missing the point. The people you describe are few and far between on FR...easily spotted, easily refuted.
But the broadbrush condemnations of conservatives implicit in much of the language of many of these threads is doing alot of damage. The insinuation that all principled conservatives are somehow evil is ridiculous on its face, and insulting...and it is so anti-the-spirit-of-FR, too.
To: Texasforever
Since 2000 there has always been an 80/20 split on FR between GOP conservatives and 3rd party libertarians/populists/paleo-conservatives. Source please.
Also, do you characterize anyone who disagrees on any issue a "libertarians/populists/paleo-conservative"
