Actually the Gould book is *not* a refutation of modern IQ science. He ignores a lot of modern understanding and uses a shabby argument about early discredited attempts to measure intelligence as his cudgel against more modern scientific studies.
This is like discrediting Einstein's theory of relativity because his mentor Ernst Mach had wacky views on reality.
