I attended a university graduation in Montreal last year. The highpoint was when they gave a 'lifetime' achievement award to some guy who figured that if you mixed very slow learners with normal or above normal performers - the overall class learned less and took a longer amount of time to do it than if the class into graded levels when the pace of learning of all improved.
The second high point was when a newly appointed professor from California said she wasn't sure she should take a job in Canada until one of her liberal friends told her to take it because the Canadians were 'smarter' than 'we' were - proving her friend right, at least when comparing California libs to Canadians.
Personally, I think the average National IQ went up in both countries when she left the US for Canada (but obviously not that much up north).

Sorry - You had to seperate the class into seperate 'capability graded' groups - when all the groups performed better.
Sheesh - it's 5 o'clock somewhere and I NEED IT!!!
