Strange, I've lived in Canada my entire life and I would say that most Canadians don't hate Americans, it pretty much ranges from liking them to indifference. Judging by some of the comments on this board (and many others) the high road is not the route of choice for some Americans. I have heard some pretty mean-spirited things said about Canadians. So we don't like your president, who cares? We don't vote in your elections. Our countries share many things, but our politics differ. As two sovereign nations, don't we have the right to have different ideological and political views? Stop being so defensive.

Now, one thing that does piss me off is the assumption that all Canadians are jealous of Americans. This is not true. We love our country. For the most part we are proud of it's natural beauty, our medicare (no matter how dysfunctional), our diversity, our social programs, our social thinking, and the list goes on) The only concern that I really see is that our culture is being swallowed up by the massive onslaught of American media that is available here.

Not at all! Canadians should love and be proud of their country. We fought together against tyrany in WW1, WW2, Korea, and between 30,000 to 40,000 Canadians fought in the US Forces in Vietnam. Personally, I am sick of divisive articles that are printed in the media. It seems all we ever hear is how the Canadians hate the US, or how the US steps on everyone. The media is full of cr#p. I also hear alot of opinions about Canada becoming part of the US. I myself would prefer a strong, free, separate Canada.

It's the people that DON'T love their respective countries that I don't trust!!
