Thanks for all the connect-a-dots! Socrates was known for his way of asking questions or prompting other to ask...you sure have given food for thought. I recall threads on the No Dong and the TD3, and the talk of a spring operation into Pakistan for OBL might really be for the ISI.

I'm guessing China and UAE. Do you think China is the proxy behind all of this axis or just NK?

Vienna-based diplomats said the list of countries the middlemen come from and where they tried to get atomic technology on behalf of Libya or Iran gets longer by the day.

It includes Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, South Africa, Japan, Dubai, Malaysia, the United States and elsewhere in Europe and Asia.It also includes Russia, China and Pakistan.

"Other countries will join that list," said one diplomat. "They (the middlemen) were fishing in many different countries for dual-use technology, countries with high-tech industries. A lot of this technology might have been seemingly innocuous."

China will soon have to decide what side of the fence they will stay on. We seem to be bending over backwards to court them. We are even taking their side for the first time over Taiwan (in a small but important way).

"China" is 1.2 billion people and its government is just as complicated. They are the common denominator when it comes to weapons and technology transfers. I am not going to make that case with regard to terrorism.

Things may have changed since the 2001 downing of our aircraft in the South China Sea. The next few weeks will show if this is for real.

If China stops supporting North Korea's inane story that they do not have a uranium enrichment program and back international action, then that is a sign that they are indeed coming back from "the dark side of the force".

But if China does not put the screws to them, then this is 1962 all over again.
