Police and sheriff's deputies are looking for a man and a woman who may have left a bomb in a stolen car.

People Sickened in Downtown Building
UPDATED - Monday February 09, 2004 2:26pm

Washington (AP) - Six mailroom workers at an environmental law firm became ill Monday shortly after the mail arrived.

One person was hospitalized and six others were treated at the scene for eye and nose irritation, said Larry Schultz, a battalion commander for the District of Columbia Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department. Their symptoms lessened after they were removed from the mailroom, Schultz said.

There were no reports of any suspicious substances or packages, but hazardous materials crews were searching.

All six worked for a mail handling contractor at the law firm of Beveridge and Diamond, said John Hanson, a spokesman for the firm. He said he knew of no threats against the law group.
