"..it's the
only way that we get out of this mess."
You expect more from a senior senator than this kind of crap.

You expect more from a senior senator than this kind of crap. Well, to be fair, it is Feinstein as quoted by Arnold. I'm sure she'll come up with some better spin when she formally announces her support.
With all the Dems (except Angelides) opposing this, including Feinstein and support from the Unions, I think the 'No on 57/58' campaign is in trouble. Unfortunately, I have little faith in the voters to see through this mess without an active Opposition campaign (of which there seems to be none).

See how they all can come together when it means NOT cutting spending. "We need to suspend the states spending mandates and restore to the Governor the power he had from 1939 to 1983 to make mid-year spending reductions. A 13 ½ percent reduction effective January 1st would cure the entire deficit in 18 months and allow California to begin the next budget year debt free, with a clean slate, and $12 billion of breathing room going into 2005. And it would still provide annual general fund spending 15 percent above what we were spending the day Gray Davis took the oath of office". Per Tom McClintock.

You meant that all the Democrats (except Angelides) support this. YES! That is exactly what I meant to say. Thank you!

It's a tax increase, Arnie; of course she'd endorse it!

Schwarzenegger looks to Feinstein for support?
If there ever was a convincing argument to let the capital markets direct our legislative budget process, this is it.
I can't wait for the governor's supporters to point with pride to this strategy claiming the awesome power of the governor simply bowled over this die hard liberal.
From my perspective this is like inviting the head of the FTB to be a cosigner on your personal checking account.

Yep... he's converted her. Now she 'is a fiscal conservative'
Of course, it depends on what the definition of 'is' is.
