This statement sounds like hooey to me unless there are a lot of irresponsible surgeons. It's been a while since I worked in a cancer program, but my hospital invited a rep from Smith-Kline who was,at that time, the the proprietor of the CA-125. They stated that the CA-125 was NOT a diagnostic test. Based on their own representation, I can't imagine why anyone would go out and have their ovaries removed based on the results of that test or why any physician would be willing to perform such a procedure.

I had a 45 year old friend, who'se mother died from ovarian cancer, she had both her ovaries removed (healthy) because she feared dying like her mom.
