Two Teens Shot INSIDE D.C. Public High School (16 year-old reported dead)

Allan Etter, spokesman for the Washington, D.C. Fire Department, says two teenagers were shot inside Ballou Senior High School in Southeast, Washington, D.C. this morning.

One teen was shot in the chest and is being Medivacced to Childrens Hospital. The other was shot in the leg and is being treated on the scene before transport to a local hospital.

No report on whether the shooter was caught or if it was more than one shooter.

Our nation's capital is in the throes of a violent crime wave with almost one murder a day, gang warfare in broad daylight, bus drivers being stabbed and children being robbed at gunpoint for their Northface down winter coats.

Recently, a 14-year-old girl was assassinated for being a possible witness to a drug-war hit between rival gangs.

This situation is a recent development. As late as the post-war Forties, D.C. was a safe city. The schools were well run and the police department was a model for the country.

Even though the city was segregated, the problems in the white and black parts of town were never like this. It's not a racial thing, it's decades of liberal politics and culture that has destroyed this city.

Perhaps they should make guns double-plus-illegal to own in D.C. That should do it.

Whoops -- I didn't intend to imply that it was a racial thing (though it's also not a big stretch to guess the race of those involved). That said, this sort of inner-city warfare is most similar to the "politics" of places like Liberia or the Congo, which is what spurred my comments about "colonization."

Your comment on liberal politics and culture is spot-on. Thing is, this is not a problem that will fix itself. The choice is between letting it fester, or doing something drastic (and long-term) to bring that sewer back to a civilized state.

Nah, what they need is a law that says it's against the law to break a law. Besides it's "the ready availablilty of guns in Virginia" that cause crime in DC dontchaknow. They never answer why Va has 1/20th the crime rate of DC when they say that though, and the media never challenge them on it either.

The solutions are out there. There's no leadership to demand it, though. The city has gotten it's financial house mostly in order, but it's moral house is on fire. We need someone with the hardball tactics of a Guiliani and the moral passion of an Alan Keyes.

The D.C. politicians/morons claim that their ban on guns works. They say it's the fault of Maryland and Virginia, who sell guns to innocent young crack cocaine dealers, no, no, no... I mean innocent youth, that are illegally brought across the border into D.C.. If they could only get Maryland and Virginia to ban guns... Then the states surrounding Maryland and Virginia... Then the states surrounding those states.... Then...

Imagine the public horror and outrage if the liberal media hyped this up as much as any troop injuries/deaths in Irac. But, no, D.C. is run by liberals who fall into more than one politically correct human categorization groups (race, sex, sexual orientation, blah, blah, blah...) and the victims are mostly minorities. Can't put that on the front page every day. It will look bad.

Strong gun control laws plus the highest amount of money spent per pupil in the public schools should make the D.C. Skoolz a peaceful paradise; A place where test scores are the highest in the nation, and tolerance and acceptance reign. Kumbaya baby....

The 16-year-old is reported by WUSA-TV to have died from his wounds. God rest his soul and comfort his parents.
