All we're saying is that bringing up the issue is smart. Is that so bad? Can we not even discuss smart vs. dumb moves by Democrats? Is that forbidden?
Where/what did I write that would make you possibly think discussing this matter was forbidden? That he made the statement might be smart politics as the politically naive will believe him.
