Man's Windshield May Have Been Hit By Highway Shooter
After a 911 caller last week claimed to be Columbus' highway sniper and said he had shot at a car on Interstate 71 that day, authorities said there were no reports of any shootings. But now a man has come forward to say something cracked his windshield that morning, January 26th, as he approached an overpass on I-71 in the heart of the area where the shootings have occurred.
The man,who doesn't want his name used, said he was driving to work about 9 a.m. and saw a man standing on the overpass seconds before he heard a "boom" and saw his windshield crack.
He said he called the highway shootings task force hotline twice before a deputy came to his home to take a report. He says he has heard nothing further and no one has inspected his car.
Task force spokesman Steve Martin declined to comment, saying he speaks to the media only at his weekly Friday news conference.
