I think this is an excellent investment. The US spends over $200 billion on gasoline each year; over 1/2 of our oil is imported. $250 million for research amounts to only about 0.2 cents per gallon of gas. I think fuel cell technology will eventually work (remember that the earliest cars were built to use kerosene because everyone was afraid of gasoline). BUT even if it never works, just the prospect of the new technology will probably hold the price of imported crude oil down more then $250 million.
