No, you're not missing anything. Except maybe that the Constitution only seems to be taken seriously when it serves PC interests. Aside from that it's a 'living' document; subject to the whims of whomever.

I wonder what the reaction would be, if, "subject to MY whim" I began taking the Declaration of Independence, The Constitution, The Preamble to the Bill of Rights and The Bill of Rights very literally?

Congress of the United States begun and held at the City of New-York, on Wednesday the fourth of March, one thousand seven hundred and eighty nine.

THE Conventions of a number of the States, having at the time of their adopting the Constitution, expressed a desire, in order to prevent misconstruction or abuse of its powers, that further declaratory and restrictive clauses should be added: And as extending the ground of public confidence in the Government, will best ensure the beneficent ends of its institution.

RESOLVED by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America, in Congress assembled, two thirds of both Houses concurring, that the following Articles be proposed to the Legislatures of the several States, as amendments to the Constitution of the United States, all, or any of which Articles, when ratified by three fourths of the said Legislatures, to be valid to all intents and purposes, as part of the said Constitution; viz.

Fight Illegal Immigration {{{Ongoing Thread}}}

Today begins an ongoing thread to add your links, important news,legislative happenings etc. all regarding the protection of our borders. There are now so many articles and news stories that it is good to have one place to view it all.

I will start off this thread with saying I believe we all need to contact our state representatives and those is our party who need to know this is not a one-horse issue that will go away.I have stated that all it takes is one issue to start a domino effect and the entire administration could fall apart. None of us wants that to happen. We also need to contact the media and make sure the democratic spin on this is not for political advantage. This issue is closely correlated with the War On Terror for terrorist's are using our open border's against us the same way they used commercial flights to attack us on 911.

Illinois has an excellent pro-American candidate in Jim Oberweis who's running for the Senate. According to some recent polls he's pulled ahead mainly by focusing on the issue of illegal immigration. Could be a good sign of things to come nationally.
