Andy Rooney fell on his face Sunday night, January 25, 2004, trying to trash our President. He said that if President George W. Bush were to go to Mars the chance of him returning would be practically nil because of the huge gravitational pull of that planet.
Mon Dieu! I could hear Sir Issac Newton furiously flipping apple pancakes in his grave!
Mr. Rooney should know that the equatorial radius of Mars is one-half of Earth's, and its mass is one-tenth that of our planet.
Thus a rocket would need supply to an object escaping Mars only one-fifth the energy that would be needed to free it from Earth's gravitational attraction.
After Mr. Rooney's fact checkers brush up on their science, maybe they should consider shipping CBS's liberal agenda off to Jupiter.
There it could remain safely gravitational bound for all eternity.

Could be right or wrong depending on what was being compared.
If he was comparing returning from mars with returning from the moon he would of course be correct.
