Before this study there was:
1. Fossil remains of an apparent 'hybrid' child found in Spain (some components of Neanderthal and some H. Sapiens sapiens.)
2. The 'red head' gene, believed by some to be from the N. European Neanderthal.
These are now discarded?

Their computer analyses showed that the differences measured between modern humans and Neanderthals were significantly greater than those found between subspecies of living monkeys and apes. Thanks Patrick. I feel better already.
