Are you on this thread to discuss the issue as a part of the President's conservative accomplishments?
Claims were made about what the President's conservative accomplishments have been. I agreed with many of them, and said so. Others are debatable, and I've also said so, and why. Have you made any posts other than from your anti-immigration soapbox? Just curious.
I am not "anti-immigration;" I'm opposed to legalizing Illegal Aliens. President Bush has just proposed that we legalize millions of Illegal Aliens. I don't find that proposal to be a conservative accomplishment. I wouldn't find enactment of anything like that proposal to be a conservative accomplishment. Would you?

No.
But I didn't see the President's immigration PROPOSAL on Wolfstar's and Southack's list of his CONSERVATIVE accomplishments, did you?
Sorry, Saber. It's a legitimate issue, which has been discussed, and can still be discussed on scores of threads on the subject, and I'm sure it has a place as PART of this discussion.
It's just that I've seen a few too many hijacked threads forcing the entire thread to switch gears, and it's irritating, to say the least.

The immigration issue...
along with Social Security
well, SS used to be the so-called third rail, that nobody dared discuss because every position is controversial and nobody already in Congress wants to be ushered out because someone didn't like their controversial position.
George Bush took on that third rail, and proposed valuable changes -- not perfect changes but good ones.
Immigration. There are, what, 10 million illegals here. Will that problem go away if we avoid trying to deal with it? I don't think so. I admire Bush for trying to figure out a solution and being brave enough to bring it up.
Do you think any of the Dem candidates would touch this with a 50 foot pole?
And he's kinda got them on the run with this issue, because if they proposed anything it would have to be more on the lines of total amnesty right now and maybe a $500 bonus for registering for it.
