Unfortunately, your memory is faulty. Reagan had lots of supposed Conservatives calling for his head, calling him names, and NOT supporting him at all.

...which is what you're talking about, re Rush, has been in force, since at least the '80s!

Banking surveilance (among other things) has increased since the patriot act went into effect (it's basically the old 'know your customer' stuff that caused such outrage when Clinton tried it) My point is that we are under increasing government tracking (surveilance) of every thing we do. Your point?

He does have strong supporter sites but it's not all Rove's fault!

NOT Rove's fault? Which side are you on? TRUTH with the rest of us Bush-bots I reckon.

Thank you both for the verified information. I agree with OWF, "panic attacks" are worrisome.

Your post reminds me: I think most Republicans, and a majority of Americans, tend to think well of George W. Bush's intentions and his heart. This is why all of the myriad attacks on his character by the Democrats find no resonance.

So, while it is easy to find Republicans who have disagreements with the President on certain policies, out in the real world it is rare to find one who doesn't support his reelection.

In my opinion, this is healthy and good. After all, we believe in and practice self-government, and therefore think for ourselves.

Panic attacks......And these people want him to be our PRESIDENT??

But he was just a teenager then....and he takes the right immigration stance, he is against most new taxes and spending, etc. and Rove hates him so that's something good...

Seriously, I don't know. I'm not from Colorado and have seen/heard little of him outside his proponents for President here. The first look isn't pretty but isn't all bad. He made a dumb 'read my lips' type promise and broke it, got caught in a local party cat fight, made the right anti-immigrant noises to please his local constituency, anti-tax and spend, supports the war. Maybe an ok Congresscritter but will never make President.

My point is, which obviously you are still either ignoring, or don't know about, is that when you brought Rush into it, that " trigger ", of withdrawing funds under $10,000, so as to NOT " trigger " a look into, has been in place for many decades now. I was refuting your post about that, throwing Rush's supposed surveillance, in with your cavil about " NEW " " tracking ".

Don't mix apples and oranges, to prove a falsehood.

ROFLOL!!! So Clark/Hillary is getting 10%! I love it!

BTW, I agree with your analysis on CA and other places including Florida! We could could have easily lost Florida if Hillsborough County didn't come through with their huge turn-out-the-vote drive for Pres Bush that offset the fraud in S. Florida.

Jim Baker will always be close to the top of the my list -- always did like the man. I sure wouldn't want to play poker with him either. He is the hero of 2000 IMHO!

Frustration with the rise of 'it's all Rove's fault, Rove is evil.' When did that happen? When did a talking point from the left get so perfectly mirrored?

Frustration.

It MAY not be a problem if it was just as a teenager, and he grew out of it, or was treated, but then why is it a just reason to get out of going to Viet Nam.....

I wouldn't condemn him, obviously, if he were my friend, or even my Congressman, but if he ever DOES run for President (which he has shown no signs of doing), he'd better give full disclosure about what 'panic attacks' as a teenager really means......

If it's an ongoing problem, he's not qualified to be President.

It's clear that the Rove-is-all-powerful gang around here swallowed that TIME magazine article, hook, line and sinker.

It's pure leftist tripe that Rove is calling all the shots.

I plan to ask my medical doctor (psychiatrist) husband his "general opinion" when he gets home. It's haircut day for him so he'll be my captive and my scissors are sharp. OIWS, he'll answer me. :)

THe president can propose bills and he can veto bills be must shoulder some of the responciblity for the runaway spending.

The President CAN NOT propose bills. And he can NOT veto sections of Bills. Congress writes the Bills and then loads them up with all kinds of extraneous expenses. If the President wants his budget for the Armed Forces, for instance, he frequently has to accept pork (a la bridges and roads and buildings named for Sen. Byrd of W. VA). Since all of the Senators and Congressmen like to bring home the bacon for their own districts the appropriations quickly fly out of control.

Did you see the President's request last week asking Congress to freeze all expenditures at 1%-2% over last year for everything, except National Defense? That's a good start, if Congress will go along with it. They won't, however, and the President can do nothing about it without a line item veto.

Oh, I believe you.... the posts dripping in arrogance and superiority are a big clue ;-)

Part of Mr. Rove's job is to deflect criticism from the President. That he is obviously doing quite well.

It is wrong to discount the power and the influence of those around a President. The job is so overwhemingly huge that his power naturally transfers itself to those in his employ. Their agendas, no matter how divergent from the Chief Executive, find very large expression. Happens in every administration.

Rove is a convenient whipping boy for many, including conservatives. While we know in our hearts that the buck stops at that nice desk in the Oval Office, we rather like having someone to beat on for the President's policies that isn't the President himself. Like I said, it's convenient.

Having said all of that, let me add: I disagree with Karl often.

I have no idea what you mean. I doubt that you and I are talking on the same wavelength, or even about the same subject. Not much use in persuing it any farther.

Bye.

The house and senate needs to legislate like true conservatives too. Otherwise, anything the president tries to do as far as bills go wont matter much.

Never better stated!
