I don't understand any of you. Rush didn't need 4 docs to give him pain meds. The SOP in cases as these is to send the individual to a pain clinic where a specialized doc, ususally a neurologist, will handle the situation and be in charge of the pain treatment. And the go between to the DEA should the need arise. A pain clinic treats pain in a professional manner. Most docs will suggest this to their troublesome patients who need that extra treatment.

Have you ever been personally sent to a "pain management clinic"? I have heard many stories from people who have been to one that feel these clinics are all about making people learn to live with a much higher amount of pain than they can tolerate and they are not about making people comfortable.

No, he didn't. He apparently went to four doctors to get lots of pain meds because he was an addict.

My point is that pain medication addicts are not punished so harshly as Rush--he is being persecuted because of his political beliefs.
