Now let's hope there aren't any "helpful" hackers out there who want figure out how to "show how to improve the software" by sending it junk files to overload it like Spirit. Don't think some idiot out there wouldn't want to do it if possible.

Good news all around, thanks.

Polar 360 degree view of Opportunity and horizon/rim of crater . . .

Notice the air bag impression to the left between 9 and 10 o'clock and below right between 4 and 5 o'clock. QUESTION: Did Opportunity roll down one side of the crater and up the other, or did it rebound back and forth from one incline to the other in a series of crater spanning bouncing rebounds?
Questions that true geeks may (or may not) be interested in answering.

Well, first sign of any life on Mars, expect those "hackers" to do just that. After all, we all know NASA is at the whelm of those "men in power" people that Hoagland is talking about. ;-)

I think only the JPL EDL team will know the answer. They'll have to analyze the vectors and velocities with the time of the info.
Should be fun for a post doc.

I hazard a guess that the one above shows an air bag impression on the rim of the crater.
