By the wat, did you know that he got his start playing in a Storeyville sportin' house in the Big Easy? actually I heard he would sit on some cart going down the street (an ice cart I think) and the owner payed him to blow the horn so people would know he was coming; when he heard how good he was he bought him a real trumpet, or so I recall, but I was stoned when I heard the story.

Armstrong hit his peak with the Hot Fives and Hot Sevens in the late '20's. If he was toking down in his later years, it certainly didn't improve his playing.

Charlie Parker, arguably the greatest alto saxophonist in jazz, also once acknowledged that he didn't play as well on "tea." Sober is the way to go, even for a hep cat.

That person definitely had a problem and I don't believe it was marijuana.

I've been around the MJ culture for 26 years. I've seen months pass by without anyone I know, able to find any weed. What to do about it? Go fishing, hunting, dating girls etc. Anything but worry about the matter. Being without MJ is not a big deal. Those that talk about that strong addiction craving stuff are trying to blow smoke up someone's tail pipe.
As far as aberrant behavior None, Maybe an excessive amount of laughter, but not hostile, prone to theft etc.

It does have one very strong good quality. It increases blood flow especially in the extremities--which makes for improved male sex performance. Viagra without the associated life threatening risks.

When did we limit the discussion to Great Thinkers? Satchmo's life refutes the absurd contention in this article that the smoker turns into a useless and helpless drain on society like the poor mope described.

BTW Satchmo was no Einstein but was a musical genius which I rate very highly if no one else does.
