Yes, it has many uses, even an envelope full.
Making lye for soapmaking (takes a lot of ash).
I have a couple of pottery pots by a local Lady, she makes her glazes with wood ash in them.
Different woods give different colors. Usually a natural light shade of the blues, grays, and greens.
