I would NEVER kid about something like that. I came to this thread to see if there was any information and to register the occurrence.
We usually go to Gasparilla so was unfamiliar with the noise it causes in the neighborhood. It is the celebration of the invasion of Tampa by the pirate, Jose Gaspar. Events last for a couple of weeks. Parades, pirate ships invading the city from the bay with cannon fire..it's usually later in February. Glad that's all the explosions were!

Oh, me too, so glad it's a celebration. Sounds like alot of fun. I've never heard of it. Mardi Gras parades and things like that are going on a bit South of me. :)
