Still don't know what caused the "booms."Hearing booms and the power goes out...We had transformers blow down the street one time. They make a fairly loud boom. Maybe that was the cause. :)

"symptoms suggest the disease could be encephalitis." Those three people that died on Miami -> London flights, was meningitis or encephalitis diagnosed in one of them?

OK folks, who misplaced the nuke. With FNC actually reporting that the threat may be a nuke tells me somebody is missing one and they don't know where it is. Did the froggies get complacent?

You would think calls to 911 would be.
There are those that are not, though. Long story I won't tell here, but calls to some private switchboards, even if you manage to keep the caller on for 20 minutes...which I did..can't be traced.

I use Black Ice. I like it. I think it gets good reviews as well.

I use "Norton Internet Security" as a software firewall. I also use "Sonicwall" as a hardware firewall.

Yes, weird. Like a husky whisper and he was trying to sound ominous. Evidently he has access to media or the internet.

at best they are talking about dirty bombs.

Here is somethink else kind of spooky. Just got off phone with mother who lives in the midwest. The local news is telling people that with the cyber virus going around that it is best not to even turn on your computer this weekend. Now why in the heck would they say that unless they are trying to stop a panic attack .Stay tuned folks, I think life is about to get very interesting.

Continental did not get clearance because of suspicions of a radiological device being on board.I thought I'd heard biological on this one (FNC, about 6 PM EST).

likely because they don't know what they are talking about.

I see you are in Florida. Do you know if the Queen Mary 2 has sailed for her next port? The earlier posts about an island being a target had me thinking of this cruise ship.
Google turnes this up
http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/business/7829547.htm They have security around this boat like the Cole could have used. Something about the starting images of that jihad video (that has now been disappeared) reminds me of the wake these ships leave behind.

That could be but very hard to conceal. A nuclear warhead on the other hand is sealed quite nicely and hard to detect.

Thanks, Donna..glad I can add SOME small degree of levity to this bizarre jihadi opera we are all living through.
The wife actually HELPED me with the 70 gallons of water! :) Wouldv'e taken me a whole lot longer without her helping me run containers up and down the stairs. (If anyone is curious..you CANNOT move a full 20 gallon water container unless you're part orangatang! It weighs > 160 lbs as 1 gal of water is something like 8.5 lbs). So, we had to run smaller containers up and down the stairs, filling 2 gallons at a time..ugh.

its just some "radioactive" material that is dispersed with traditional explosive. a real nuke is complicated.
To: jimbo123
Yes, and I would like to know why. It's not like Drudge to remove this news item. I am wondering if the media outlets are being forced to downplay news of potential threats.
If, as it seems, things are coming to a head for 2/1-2/04-wouldn't you think that we would go back on orange alert, or possibly move to red?
On the other hand, I think that there must be a great concern about people panicking. So maybe the news outlets are being told to focus on Michael Jackson, Lacey, etc. Thoughts?
To: oceanview
I understand that but the material inside is prety nasty. Warheads can be moved with little detection. Freight is shipped on some passenger flights.

Agree wholeheartedly (that it's not like Drudge to pull something like this).
This makes me wonder..if the airplane threat is "just" bad guys coming into the US (which they can do on any given day via the Canadian or Mexican borders, no prob), then why the super-spy clandestine stuff? (Pressure to pull the article, presumably)?
As I've said a couple of times now..I don't think the threat with these planes is people, but cargo (suitcase nukes, bio or radiological dirty bombs).
The next 48-72 hours are going to be VERY interesting, to say the least.

I do not believe warheads can be moved without being detected, unless they have significant shielding. if they could, all those satellites we launched to track them would be useless.
