And his Silver Star, for shooting an already-wounded VC dead in the back, is a travesty. It is worse than a travesty. If what his gunner reported is true, what Kerry did was a war crime. That may explain why Kerry, upon his return, joined Vietnam Veterans Against the War and its Winter Soldier project which claimed our soldiers were routinely committing war crimes there. Maybe it was not all our soldiers and sailors, but a select few who had guilty consciences for violating the rules of engagement.

There's an interesting article here :
http://www.boston.com/globe/nation/packages/kerry/061603.shtml that questions Kerry's memory of events surrounding the death of civilians in free fire zones...and his taking notice of another officer being decorated for being 'ambitious'. There's an undertone that questions Kerry's motives...and conflicting memories between Kerry and the crew of his boat...
About a year ago I ran across an article that I believe was in the globe and was written during Kerry's bid for Senate...dang if I can find it...It raised some questions about his service...and actually touched on PTSD...Kerry and his wife both talked about his 'nightmares'...
