LOL!!! Yep. I had a problem only one year. The (D) lady said loudly, "Oh, YOU"RE the Republican!" with a look like she had something much worse than a Spotted Owl Feather in her mouth.

The place got quiet when she said it, then resumed the "hum" after I stared her down. She wouldn't look at me for the rest of the time I was there.

LOL!
You gotta love "tolerance"....:))

Hubby is registered Independent but never fails to tell her he's voting Republican.
After all this time of cheerfully aggravating the [D] lady, the [R] lady starts grinning as soon as we walk in....:)

2002 must've been pure hell for her since the hillbillies came out en masse to vote [R] like they haven't done for decades.

The year I switched, I called to make -sure- it went through before a primary election day. ( I'm in MD, so I have a good reason to be "careful" )
It had not and I was still registered as [D].
I pitched a fit and they fixed it, otherwise I'd have not been able to vote my choice in the primary.
Every couple years or so I call back to just to check again.
I enjoy saying "Oh...thank God!" when the [D] office staff tells me I'm an [R].

Pfffft.
Cheap thrills....:))

Newsweek polls today have Kerry beating Bush if the election were to be held today. Dean would also come close.

Kerry is in the lead. Good. This is a Wake Up Call. This is what happens to you when you turn your back on the sons of the Greatest Generation.

The C Words.
One root of the problem that needs to be annihilated is the misuse of the term Compassionate. President Bush is trying to replace Courage with Compassion.
Every single time you do that you make the left turn unto Coward street. Thus we see what has happened to the Republican party - from Courage to Compassion to Cowards.
Welcoming homosexuals and those supporting the holocaust of the unborn into the party. That is not compassion, that is just a coward.

China is watching

Giving 10 million criminal invaders of this country forgiveness for their crimes and allowing them to take jobs and lower the wages in this county under the guise of Compassion is in-fact, a lack of Courage to deport them. Again Coward is the correct term.

China is watching

Increasing spending to buy votes in called compassion for the sick. Replacing the courage it would take to Lead the Nation to belt tightening, self reliance, looking after family, principles and characteristic that make any nation great. But buying your way out of making tough decisions is cowardly

Not taking immediate harsh action against an enemy who cowardly attacks our civilians, for fear of hurting innocent civilian in the enemy's homeland, makes us more of a coward. It encourages more acts of terror against U.S.
The enemy then calculates that it can make a suicide attack against U.S. and come away with a favorable kill ratio.

This would not be the case if we had killed 3 million arabs on September 12th. It would have left our enemies with an unwinable equation. Every time they attacked U.S. our response in self defense would achieve a kill ratio of 1000 to 1 in our favor. But as it is now, we are being blown up everyday in Iraq and when we react successfully, the terrorist give up knowing they will be taken prisoner and treated well.
Every week terrorist use more powerfull explosions.
Our future enemies are watching and learning how the American mind is being led to react to attack.

China is watching.

Again misuse of the concept of compassion. We are afraid of the reaction of the Muslim world. This is backward.

Our actions should be such that the Muslim world is afraid of U.S.

China is watching

But President Bush is losing. Good. It is still early enough for him to turn around and win. But to do so, he must stop trying to replace Courage with Compassion. Only when you accept the harsh resposiblility and consequence of Courage can you successfully employ Compassion. A coward's compassion is never respected and quickly forgotten. A brave man's compassion is always honored and long remembered.

All of you people that don't agree with everything Bush is doing need to look in the mirror. I suppose you're perfect.
To vote for another party is a waste of your vote. The 2004 election is a way for us to solidify the House and Senate. It's strictly Dem versus Bush. Go George!!!!!!!

A very good observation.
Unfortunately our military is stretched too thin and the defense budget was slashed in years past.
We simply don't have the physical ability to enact the "compassion of the conqueror"...yet.
It will take time I fear we do not have to rebuild and reinforce our defenses to start instilling "fear" in those who only understand fear.
We must also deal with the "liberals" who harp on the "can't we all get along/give peace a chance" style of diplomacy and self-defense.
Appeasement no longer works.
The enemy we face now is not "honorable and dignified" like the ones we faced in 1776.
Some people simply cannot understand this.
"PC" will be the end of us and I often wonder if that isn't the point.
Cynical?
Maybe, but it's good to prepare for the worst and hope for the best.
Personally I can foresee "guerrilla warfare" a la "Red Dawn" happening here in the not-too-distant future.
I pray I am wrong.

Very well written. And true.

China is watching. Perceived weakness is a death-knell in nature, or at a minimum, an invitation to an attack.

NO, NO, NO. Employ their postage-paid envelopes to mail their shredded trash back to them - like I do.

In replies #293-295 you told us three times that you threw them in the trash and now you say you send them back with trash.

I think you are a demo, because it seems that you have much more animus towards the Pubbies than the demos.

If you would have read the post someone else was urging me to send back the envelopes. I just throw them away unopened.

And lastly I do not care what you think of me you can take what I type out of context, try to browbeat, and name call all day long for all I care. I still think that GWB has moved to far to the left on many domestic issues and he has abandoned many of the conservative principles most I have read on the board hold dear. And for this reason I can not in good conscience offer him my support any longer.

"what do you think Clintons' response to 9/11 would have been? It is amazing that even those on the right have forgotten 9/11. Very sad"

I do not like George II's response to 9/11. We still have large numbers of Mohammadans who are intent on our destruction living in the United States organizing in Mosques and supporting the enemy. George is entertaining them in the White House and promoting them as the religion of peace.

Instead of attacking the enemy, George has attacked our own citizens with the Patriot Acts--stupid.

Among other things, we need to close the borders; identify the enemy and root them out of the country. To the extent they are citizens, they are traitors and should be dealt with accordingly.

Although many illegals and resident non-citizens from south of the border are in fact peaceful guest workers, large numbers see the better life here as starting with handouts from the state. Many others are committed to a political agenda that sees much of the United States as belonging to Mexico to be seized by military or political force. Either we find an effective way to distinguish the enemy from the peaceful guests, or we need to kick all of them out also.

We have still not put the overseas enemy out of business. And in the meantime, we are wasting military resources all over the globe (Kosovo, Africa and various other places) while failing to take effective action to protect the country.

I assume Al or Slick would have been worse--but I also assume the consequences would have been an effective Republican replacement in 2004.

I have one point I wish for you to consider, if you would be so kind. If a dem spent money they it has been spent in the past few years, if a dem sign the pill bill, if a dem affected our constitutional rights the way finance reform and the patriot act have (I am very skeptical of any attack on my rights for any reason.), if a dem proposed the amnesty, if a dem says that he sign an extention to the assault weapons ban, if a dem grew the size of government the way this President has we would all be howling mad and marching on Washington with torches.

I am not saying that GWB does not have many positives, he does but to me his negative now out weight them. If he, for example, would drop the amnesty and cut spending I would be happy to reevaluate him. I am not naive enough to think I can ever get all I want from a politicain in terms of his views, but now the issues he is for that I oppose are more to me then those I agree with him.

You bet and we would have a 535 Republican member congress to show for it. You bots seem to forget how Clintler brought about the elections of 94, and how Bush the elder admitted that his loss brought a Republican majority.
