I didn't hear the whole press conference - I did hear that they admitted to having problems with the high gain antenna. I can't tell you if its fixable or not.
But it is serious. They will need to examine lots and lots of data to determine where the problem is, and since they are restricted at the awful speed of 120/bits a second it will take a VERY LONG TIME to collect enough information.
