"In fact, on Medicare and education, for example, the Dems think Bush is being stingy"
Its important to keep this in mind as we debate.
I am certainly disappointed in several of W's decisions, however, politics will not support a straight-jacked idealouge. And of course, the alternative is major-bad-worse-to the nth f'in' degree.
I'm all for this debate w/i the conservative movement, its what distinguishes us from the libs (that we can debate intellegently) but we must never loose sight of the fact that the demonicrats cannot be allowed to return to power.

Ted Kennedy went on the record yesterday to ask for $100 billion increase in all Medicare, Medicaid, and Prescription drug benefits.
I think this is just a preview of what will happen to the budget if a Democrat gets into office.

"but we must never loose sight of the fact that the demonicrats cannot be allowed to return to power" AMEN to that! You are so right. And therein lies the problem. We are between a rock and a hard place. We dare not give the Dems any ammunition to use agaist Bush, but at the same time we need to convince Bush to be a bit truer to those conservative values and ideals we cherish.
Several months ago I swore that I would not give another penny of donation to Bush or the Republican Party until they started doing something about the open border situation. But now here it is election time and I am already giving in and know that I will send money and I will work at the local campaign headquarters for him..... simply because "we must never let Democrats return to power!"

Conservatives(and Bush) will take the hits from the libs, no matter what policy is instituted. It just doesn't matter if the program is cut or the spending is increased. The Dims will holler and complain. With that said, as long as there is a chance RIGHT NOW, to cut spending, lessen the cost of entitlements, and shrink govt, it should have been done, it must BE done. There is a small window of opportunity to make changes, as soon as the liberals regain control(which they will) the stage is set for more deficit spending. Either GW believes in the conservative agenda, or he doesn't.
This political system is a rigged game. GW says where are conservatives going to go? Answer is, nowhere.
