Moses Maimonides taught that the tried and true way to nurture love of God, and not just obedience, was to sample His wisdom. We would find it, he said, by studying His Torah as well as the natural sciences.

Interesting attitude. Has anyone ever encountered a Jewish creationist? There surely must be some, but I can't recall any.

I used to work with a *very* observant Jew. (he preferred "observant" to "orthodox"). His opinion of creationists, YEC-ers in particular, was "they don't even know how to read Genesis".
