Is that a real picture of Mars? If so, it is stunning.

It's just the local Martian teenagers having a little fun with a spray can of red paint
Can't NASA take a joke?

It is real, according to my sources on the ground.

Is something making them change colors or are the scientists just adjusting the colors on everything themselves? I wasn't clear on that from the article.

Magnificent...

wonder if they still have McRib's available

Spirit will be on the Red Planet for at least 90 Martian days to investigate whether Mars had a watery past. While the "at least 90 Martian days" part is technically correct, wouldn't it be more meaningful to state that it is likely to be on the Red Planet until Hell freezes over, but it also has a mission plan that is expected to last at least 90 days? (Is it a mistake to nit-pick like that? Nah...)

If it's like remote sensing programs, it isn't easy to get natural color by combining several color bands. The presentation of combined color bands is normally adjusted to whichever false colors best show certain features.

Also TOZAR ,(the blonde dude on "martian queer eye"), said the blue plates clashed with the soil.

Looks like Gila Bend with red sunglasses on. But the nightlife in Mars is probably better.

Spirit will be on the Red Planet for at least 90 Martian days to investigate whether Mars had a watery past. Are they planning to beam it up to the mother ship after the 90 day mission? Spirit will be on the Red Planet for at least a few decades. The question is wether it will rust away in that time?
