Do muslims get a piece of this faith based initiative? Am I paying taxes so they can "minister" to prisoners?

No they don't that I know of. The Imam's that minister in the prisons, from what I understand, are sponsored directly by the Wahabi sect in Saudi Arabia. Even scarier than them being sponsored by our tax dollars.

Yes they should.
If they make the choice to use their time to preach hatred then they should not.
That should hold constant for Islamic extremists as well as for Christian Identity extremists.
If for example Shaykh Muhammad Hisham Kabbani is leading the faith-based initiative, then there's nothing wrong.
