Actually, he said during his campaign if the people wanted the CCW law, he would sign it. The dem said she wouldn't sign it no matter what. He won. She lost.

Bush only signed it because the legislature passed it unanimously. Bush never made it a campaign issue. Not true, he didn't make a big issue, but he did promise to sign a CHL law if the legislature put one on his desk. They did, and he did. It was a HUGE issue in the defeat of his opponent, "Queen Anne" Richards.

Bush only signed it because the legislature passed it unanimously. No way was it unamimously. Way too many anti arms rights folks in the leg for that.
