I didn't say naming a star is ownership.
Naming a star, however, is an act that assumes that the name is recognized. This is a power of ownership (of a name), and if a name is recognized (ie: Microsoft, Dell) - then one may protect the name. It's called copyright law.
And it is a form of ownership.

It is not. The naming of stars is govnd under a convention and does not imply ownership. Also, a map maker named the Americas after Amerigo Vespucci, not Amerigo himself. So under your scheme the map maker should own the new world and Amerigo could sue for copyright infringement?
