What is the reasoning that the dems have for trying to distort this man's record.

I would tune in to see that as well. But, here's the bottom line: The Dems will lose Mississippi, that's all. (And, a lot of other voters, elsewhere, who are watching all this will be wondering why "politics" gets priority billing over a person's actual record. They won't vote Dem either.)
