Amazing! Not Pickering or the blacks who like him ... some of us have known that for some time. What's amazing is that the NY Times reports it.
Harold Raines would never approve.

"I wish W would just recess all of em but like nopardons pointed out to me, many nominees may not accept that....I had not thought of that."With the exception of Pickering, all of the nominees are relatively young, and wouldn't want to give up a lifetime appointment just yet. It's my understanding that is what would happen if they weren't confirmed by the new Congress that convenes next Jan. Pickering is close to retirement age, though. He can afford to take the risk.
Is that right, nopardons? If not, please feel free to correct me. I want to get these things straight. ;o)
We've finally thawed out, and the snow is finally gone. We spent two hellish weeks with bitterly cold temperatures, wind, ice and snow. I ventured from my house twice to go to the grocery store. It's not that I'm scared to drive. It's that I'm afraid of the other folks on the road. We don't have weather like that very often, and people here don't know how to drive in that stuff. There were so many cars wrecked, in the ditch, or both.
Two o'clock, onyx? lol I'm impressed! ;o)

Two o'clock, onyx? lol I'm impressed! ;o)Have black-out drapes on all windows in bedroom (comes from living in NV 3 years). Didn't have to babysit today, so it was so quiet, I slept and slept and slept. :)

Good for you! :-)
To: dixiechick2000
Yes, you've got it exactly right, re the recess nominations. :-)

I have blackout shades in the bedroom, too. Plus, it's dark until almost 8. I'm STILL awake by 6:30, but it's really hard to get out of bed.

Yes, you got it, which unfortunately few here do.
I too have blackout shades, plus shears and lined, heavy drapes. I hate light in a bedroom; always have.
Good to see you too! I'm not here much anymore and shall soon be here even less.Let the nutters rejoice. LOL
To: nopardons
Ooooh! We have much in common. I even sleep with a pillow over my head. I haven't been able to tolerate light in the bedroom since I was a little girl.
"I'm not here much anymore and shall soon be here even less."
I am so sorry to hear that. I'm not here very much anymore, either, because of my babysitting duties, but I always look forward to your posts. You are a fount of information. In addition to that, you're a lot of fun.
I will miss you.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm...we do seem to have a lot in common. LOL
Also, I can't sleep in a hot room, it has to be almost frigid, elsewise, I am most uncomfortable and having trouble sleeping. This has been so since I was tiny.
Thank you so much. I always try to post FACTS, facts which tend to easily refute the emotional posts, and need to be known by everyone.
We usually DO have such great fun, don't we ? Oh well, I just am not up for month after never ending month of the incessant Bushbashing, the hurled insults made by those who don't understand politics at all, and the rabid replies, that were so prominent in'00.
To: nopardons
LOL! I have the ceiling fan on, no matter what the temperature. To me, a cold room is a great place for rest. ;o)
You DO post facts. That's one reason why I've always enjoyed your posts. You are encyclopedic, in that fashion, and I'm here to learn.
I remember '00 very well. I tried to sign up in Jan., '99, but both of the screen names I wanted were taken (by one month, I might add). ;o) It wasn't until Aug., '00, that I felt compelled, once again, to sign up. Things had been nasty for a while at that point. I have been very disturbed at some of the threads, and posts, lately. I think there are a lot of people that can't see beyond tomorrow, and a lot that don't understand today.
I hate to leave you now, but I must. I surely have enjoyed talking to you. I hope that when you are here, you will ping me. I always enjoy talking to you.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh...we are very alike.A cold, dark room is the ONLY kind of room to sleep in! LOL
I don't know about " encyclopedic "; but, since I only post about things I know, it may appear that way. :-D
The primary/election cycle of '00 was horrid here. I knew that it would be so again, this time around...I just didn't expect it to hit this early. :-(
You got it...I'll ping ya. I always so enjoy our time together on the threads.
Pleasant dreams.........................
