When someone comes along and writes the definitive book on the Decline and Fall of the American Empire (like Gibbons book on the Roman Empire), political correctness will be one of the main contributing factors. Thanks for posting.
You are right about that. I'm a legal secretary and a black former co-worker of mine was the first legal assistant hired by the State of New York in 1980. She told me that the year she was hired New York State even offered prep classes to applicants for civil service positions (I seem to remember the classes were just for blacks and Hispanics). Anyway, the blacks and Hispanics just "blew off" (her words) the classes, most failed and then they turned around and sued the State for discrimation! She passed the exam but was still asked to join in the suit. She knew the whole story and refused. My memory is hazy and unreliable because she told me this years ago.
My law firm is very large and liberal Democratic yet we are being sued by a black former associate for discrimination! I don't know why he left in the first place -- perhaps he didn't make partner, but I do remember the snooty farewell e-mail complaining of racism he sent to everyone. It was said at the time that he could forget about using the firm as a reference.
