It's not a lifetime position so it'd only last the Prez's term? Is that right?

I thought Clinton did all his wreckage while Congo was away.

It lasts for the duration of the current session of Congress, I believe.

Lifetime appointment. He'll need to be confirmed by the next Senate to keep the job, but odds are pretty good (and getting better).

Congress is away, in recess until next week, iirc.
