Bush recess appointing Pickering is due to the Caucuses? How would it affect it and why would Bush get in the way of letting the Ras kill each other?

It's the timing that counts -- and I agree it could be as a result of last week's amnesty proposal. However, appointing Pickering the Friday before MLK day and the Iowa caucus is too much of a coincidence.

The Democratic primary so far is based on anger at Bush for a variety of issues. However, wrapped in those issues is Democratic impotency. They don't have control of any branch of government and they see themselves as being bullied by Republicans. One of the few things they did have control is filibustering Bush's judicial nominees. It gave them some comfort. With Bush doing a recess appointment, it makes them impotent once more resulting in anger.

Now which candidate would capitalize on that anger the most? Which candidate does Karl Rove want the most?

Is it also a coincidence that Katherine Harris held a press conference today? Any appearance by her makes the Democrats go into a frenzy. The pictures of Saddam being released yesterday? CENTCOM holding a press conference on the treatment of Guantanomo detainees? These issues drive the Democratic base into a further frenzy and into Dean's lap.
