Whoops, sorta misread your thing. Yeah, you don't want to give money to the government. NASA,though, is friggin pennies out of what you pay, something like 3.75% of DoD's budget.

You aren't going to send the kid to college on that, and arguments can be made that pure science r&d is as vital as defense spending with respect to the future security and prosperity of the nation.
