It should be a floating bridge like in a Japanese Tea Garden, in fact we could have Japanese Restaurant pit stop with a Tea Garden too. Then we would have a draw bridge where the boats needed to cross it. BTW what happens when there's a one hundred car pile up right in the middle of the bridge, 1200 miles away from land. Who's tow truck has jurisdiction. If you call triple A would it still come for free? Obviously this bridge could only work with smart cars and it would have to be a smart bridge.

What happens when it needs to be repaved? You think our highway workers are bad, wait till you see socialist highway workers. At least with ours, 5 of them sit around and have a coffee break while 1 or 2 work. In Europe none of them work. Did you hear about the road crew in NYC, they were working on the FDR Drive and went to pickup a six pack in their backhoe. A very economical means of transport indeed.

One final word, I thought tolls were imposed only temporarily until the road/bridge paid for itself and then they would go away.
